15Yr: Reunion moved to 19th Dec

REUNION DATE MOVED TO DEC 19 AND OTHER UPDATES

We will be MOVING the date of the reunion to DECEMBER 19 instead of the DECEMBER 12 which has been previously agreed upon. This development came upon ocular inspection of the venue in New Manila, with the owners saying someone else already got the Dec 12 sched. So we will be moving the event a week later.

Batch mates, baka naman meron sa inyo pwede mag-volunteer for any of the materials needed for the event. We really NEED your help. Paki-fill in na lang yung mga fields or pledge by posting feedbacks on this. Not to mention your MONETARY CONTRIBUTIONS (as for the BATCH MATES LIVING ABROAD). By the end of the month all the materials needed SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE already for the month-end meeting. More to come.

Salamat.

Baldwin dishes a bad Pinoy joke?

Oh no.. here we go again…

Govt protests

Baldwin’s joke
May 19, 2009

MANILA – THE Philippine government on Tuesday said it was demanding a formal apology from Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin over a joke he made about getting a Filipina mail-order bride.

The joke, made during a May 12 interview with US talk show host David Letterman, had sparked outrage among politicians and Filipinos around the world, the government said.

Manila’s consul-general to New York, Ms Cecilia Rebon, had been asked to send a letter to the producers of the show and to Baldwin ‘to express deep concern over the derogatory remark’, the foreign department said.

But wait.. there’s more to this story..

At least three members of the Philippine Senate have also demanded that Baldwin publicly apologise, stressing that the mail-order bride business was outlawed here.

Who are these three senators? Let me check it out… Sen. Ramon Revilla.. hold on. Senator Ramon Revilla? As in Senator Ramon Revilla? Really?

Revilla even went to say “Let him try to come to the Philippines and he’ll see mayhem.

What can I say.. that’s a challenge to an ass-whooping from a man with integrity.

But what are Filipinos really crying foul for? Is it another racial slur? Is that another derogatory remark against Pinoys? Is that a remark from Alec Baldwin in a State of the Union? Or are Filipinos just being overly-sensitive (again) to statement like this (again) that makes us feel lesser than others (again).

Are Filipino politicians using incidents like this (again) to “emphatize” (again) to the Filipino masses?

The fact is that Alec Baldwin, an American actor, said this remark in the David Letterman Show. That’s it.

He also said “Russian mail order brides” right? Did they complain?

I guess things like this hurts only if it’s true.

DFA needs a watchama-NSO for a wtf?!?

Someone asked this question via email:

Bakit po kailangan na ngayon na i-notarize ng DFA ang mga NSO certificates (ie birth, marriage, death, etc)?

Buti sana kung photocopy lang yun, pero original galing din sa NSO.

When in fact, ang gagawin lang din naman ng DFA e i-verify sa NSO ang document na NSO din ang nag-issue.

Isn’t that the purpose of NSO (National Statistics Office)? Now if you are issued with a certified NSO document, isn’t that enough to say that your document is legit? How come DFA must notarize NSO documents to renew passports?

Someone can answer this?
